John Two-Hawks performs "Stone People"
In conjunction with the Shafer Gallery’s current exhibit, “Native Witness: Indians in the Shafer,” Barton will present a free lecture and American Indian flute concert by Emmy Award nominated and Grammy Award winning Native American performer John Two-Hawks. The lecture will be at 2 p.m. and the concert will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 at the Crest Theatre, 1905 Lakin St., Great Bend. The Great Bend Tribune is co-sponsoring the event.
Two-Hawks is best known as the preeminent master of the American Indian flute, and his powerful singing voice has earned him international acclaim. Two-Hawk’s awe-inspiring concert performances captivate audiences with the ancient beauty of his music, and the profound wisdom of his teachings resonate with answers for all of humanity. Two-Hawks is widely known as a headline concert performer, and is also highly sought after as a lecturer, keynote speaker and teacher of American Indian culture, history and tradition.
Two-Hawks is of Oglala Lakota Sioux lineage and has spent his life learning from the elders and teachers of many nations. He passes on his wealth of knowledge and insight into the history and culture of the American Indian people in his lectures.
